Keurig Coffee Maker Review - B155 Commercial Grade Coffee Brewer

This Keurig coffee maker review by Derek looks into the pros and cons of buying a Keurig coffee maker. To view more info on Keurig coffee machines go to Keurig coffee makers. Remember you can always add your own Keurig coffee brewer reviews as well.

I upgraded to the B155 because Keurig has been having ongoing problems with the 'Select' model (I went through 3, and they all had the same problem... unable to pull water in after brewing the 1st cup). The B155 worked great for 5 days. I was very happy with how it worked, enjoy the touch screen, and love the large water tank.

On the 6th day, I selected a 10oz cup and got 4-6oz. Same thing on the 7th and 8th days. I'm forced to brew a 2nd time in the same cup, just to get my 10oz.

I went on Keurig's website and selected the "Customer Service Brewer Inquiries" icon and proceeded to fill out the form for support, but there's no option to select the B155 brewer. I proceeded to send an e-mail.

I just sent the e-mail today, so I don't expect a response for a couple of days (it's Saturday), but so far I'm disappointed that the brewer is starting to have problems after less than 1 week. I upgraded to this model as it was portrayed as being "industrial grade", and I figured the 1-2 cups a day I put through it should allow it to last a long, long time. Maybe I was wrong?

Follow-up to my review
by: Derek

I was actually able to resolve my own problem yesterday morning. Reading through the troubleshooting section, I found that the exit needle can sometimes get clogged with coffee grounds. I cleaned it out with a paper clip, and brewing returned to normal.

Other than that issue, I really have no complaints. I have only had it a little over a week, but it brews well, has a large tank, is slightly louder than the Keurig Select but not too loud, and is very easy to use. If I had to criticize anything, I'd say that the mechanism where the K-cup is placed doesn't move as easily as the Keurig Select (which seemed to be much easier to open and close), but it still works, and that is what matters.

Thanks for the follow up Derek. Good to hear you got it all sorted!

Now go buy your self some 100% Kona Peaberry and celebrate!!!

Still had issues, but they worked themselves out
by: Derek

Here we are, quite a while later. I had the same problem with the B155 as I had with many of the lower-end models... It would brew a cup, then try to suck water from the tank, and it would shut off.

Contacted Keurig and they sent a replacement unit. This worked for a month or so, then started doing the same thing. I just decided that I'm really the only person in my household using this, and I don't need more than 1 cup at a time. Also, I was tired of dealing with the issue. So, I decided to just live with it.

Wouldn't you know, a month or two of daily use with this issue (1-2 times a day) and it stopped happening! It hasn't had a problem for a few months now. I'm wondering if the other machines would have fixed themselves...

I'm hoping now that I'm writing this update to my review that it doesn't re-occur, but for the past few months my B155 has been working flawlessly.

On a side-note, I was able to modify my "My K-Cup" reusable filter to work with the B155. Now I can use my own coffee (that I roast and grind myself). Mixed with the k-cups I buy, I have a nice variety to choose from now.

All-in-all, I love my Keurig brewer. I only hope that all customers won't be subject to the apparent break-in period I experienced.

Modification of My K-Cup

Can you elaborate on how you modified the My K-Cup to work with the B155?
Thanks

Modifying My K-Cup for Commercial Brewer
by: Derek

The B155 has some extra tabs that don't allow My K-Cup to fully seat in the machine. I didn't want to modify my brewer (talk about voiding the warranty...) so I decided I'd modify the My K-Cup.

The modification took me about 15-20 minutes and required trimming of the My K-Cup so it would seat properly in the brewer. I ran across a site that showed a total trimming of one of the tabs that helps the lid stay on. The problem here is leakage. I decided to only trim what was necessary to fit. This way the lid still stays on relatively securely.

I don't have a way to post pictures here, but I recommend turning your My K-Cup upside down and looking for the largest "gap". I think you can do this with the lid off and setting it in. Then, trim the least amount necessary. Trim a little at a time and try the fit again. I don't think I needed to modify the lid at all, only the lip of the main body where the lid screws in.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
